PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Dear parents, pupils and visitors. Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh. Welcome to the great ALMUSTAQEEM INTEGRATED SCHOOLS. As we embark into a new journey of growth and learning, we are more than certain that with the help of Allah (SWT) and your continuous support, we will be able to take our school to a greater height of academic excellence and service delivery. At our end, we shall continue working with you to serve the best interest of our precious pupils and in conjunction with the teachings of Islam. The lofty journey towards knowledge and prosperity is a committed effort to nurture pupils to become responsible for their own actions. Our code of conduct is meant to help them reflect upon their own actions and draw conclusion and lessons for the future.
As you may be aware, the school operates an integrated curriculum whose focus is on the Qur’an, Deen, Arabic and Conventional Education.
The Nursery section is dedicated mainly for the glorious Qur’an memorization coupled with the Arabic language, Aadaab and some basic arithmetics and phonics.
This handbook will intimate you with the philosophy, goals and policies of AIS Nursery School and will serve as a reference concerning our procedures and expectations.

Our Islamic Learning Centre is comprised of THREE divisions as follows.
- Pre-Basic School – Kindergarten to Grade 3
- Full-Time Tahfeezul Quran School
- Part-Time Tahfeezul Quran School
PRE-BASIC SCHOOL
The cornerstone of the education for pupils in the Nursery School is:
1. Memorization of the glorious Quran.
2. The imparting of Islamic faith and Arabic language skill.
In order to achieve the set goals, the subjects were accorded the following percentages:
Quran memorization 70% - 80% tutorial
Islamic studies (Aadaab) about 10% tutorial
Spoken Arabic Language 10 - 20% tutorial
Language of instruction is 100% Arabic except in respect of Phonics and Mathematics.
The curriculum is built around a series of value-based themes, and incorporates age appropriate learning materials and activities. As the pupils progress from one grade level to another, they learn how to practice the basic rituals of worship and Aadaab (Etiquettes).

At Al-Mustaqeem Pre-Basic School, utmost consideration is given to the memorization of the Glorious Quran and Arabic language. Other conventional subjects are not taught but efforts are made to fortify pupils with the ability to understand conversation in English Language as well as introductory activities in numeration.
ADMISSION POLICIES
Admission into ALMUSTAQEEM NURSERY SCHOOL is open to all pupils in Preschool to Nursery 3.
The School does not discriminate or predicate enrollment on the basis of race, age, gender, disability or national origin.
Enrollment opens during the month of May and continues until all available spots are filled in a given class. Priority in enrollment is as follows:
- Students studying in Al-Mustaqeem who wish to transfer from one section to another
- Siblings of pupils already enrolled at ANS
- AIS / AIC staff children
- Pupils in the waiting list
- All others on a first come first serve basis.
PROCEDURE
- Obtaining and completing application form
- Entrance Examination for Nursery 2 and 3
- Payment of school fees upon successful notification of examination result.
- Payment slip /bank teller should be presented to the account department for collection of school official receipt.
- Issuance of duly signed admission letter by the School Administrator and submission of acceptance letter.
- Class placement and orientation.
- Collection of textbooks, uniform etc.
SCHOOL TUITION POLICY
- No refund of school fees upon payment.
- School fees are paid completely in respect of a new pupil.
REBATE (DISCOUNT) POLICY
- No discount on first child in the school.
- There is a discount of 5% in the tuition fee for the second child who must be a biological child of the beneficiary.
- The above applies for the fourth child and onward.
PROMOTION, RETENTION & ACADEMIC POLICIES
Teachers will recommend the promotion of all pupils with passing grades in line with the school set standard. Promotion will highly be based on the individual achievement in the memorization of the glorious Quran, spoken Arabic language and Islamic studies. A pupil may be asked to undergo retention for a specific period of months depending on his/her performance.
ACADEMIC ACCELERATION POLICY
The School Management does not accelerate pupil from one class to another. All pupils will pass through the 3 or 4 mandatory stages as thus:
- Kindergarten /Preschool
- Nursery One
- Nursery Two
- Nursery Three
ACADEMIC POLICY
Pre-Basic School Management believes in - Total development of a child at early age in the memorization of glorious Quran. - Developing Arabic as a child’s first spoken language. - Complete development of Islamic culture, way of life and giving a child direction in understanding his/her religion at early age. - Teaching pupils Arabic language skills for the purpose of understanding the Qur’an. The subjects studied in each class are as follows: 1. Pre-Nursery - Arabic language - Quran - Islamic Ethics (Aadaab) - Sirah 2. Nursery One - Arabic language - Quran - Islamic Ethics (Aadaab) - Sirah 3. Nursery Two and Three - Arabic language - Quran - Islamic Ethics (Aadaab) - Sirah - Mathematics - English language EXTRA –CURRICULA ACTIVITIES - Sunnah of the week – Morning Assembly - Daily Dhuhr / Juma – Morning Assembly with pupil led dua. - Arabic Day - Quran Recitation Week – Qira’at Competition - Cultural Week - Qur’an Competition - Debate & Quiz competitions in Arabic language - Community services QUALITY STANDARD The quality standards for our Nursery school are the minimum goals to which all learners, teachers, staff and those who lead and manage should aspire to achieve for improving learning results. We believe that the school quality standard should not be the ceiling but a basement for continuous improvements. PRE-QUALITY EDUCATION STANDARD 1. VALUES & NORMS Every child is expected to: i. Maintain a sense of cooperation and team spirit. ii. Develop good habits such as good hygiene. iii. Inculcate and practice basic Islamic etiquette, values and societal norms such as respect for elders, greeting, mutual respect for colleagues etc. 2. COMPETENCE AND SKILLS Every child is expected to: i. Communicate in Arabic Language over time as competence grows; recite daily adhkar, observe salah under supervision and recite Islamic rhymes. ii. Learn basic knowledge of numbers, letters, colours, shapes, forms, etc, through plays rhymes and others. iii. Nurture natural creativity and inquiry by playing with toys etc. iv. Have smooth transition from home to school and be ready for primary education. QUALITY OF TEACHING & LEARING IN PRE-BASIC SCHOOL i. Every class is to be taught by a qualified, experienced and competent teacher with a minimum of bachelor’s degree in education or its equivalent. ii. No learner should be taught in a class larger than 20. iii. Every learner should be continuously assessed to ensure desirable progress is being made. iv. Every learner should have access to appropriate instructional materials. v. All learners with special needs should have appropriate provisions to enhance learning. vi. All learners should be taught knowledge and skill application.
MANAGEMENT EFFECTIVENESS
i. The effort of the Management should be channeled towards improving the achievement of the learners in their care.
ii. The School Management should actively engage in SS-e (School Self – Evaluation)
iii. The School Management has an SDP which is based on rigorous SS-e and EE which spells out the areas for improvement. SDP stands for School Development Plan and EE for External Evaluation).
iv. The school should empower leaders at all management levels to be more accountable for desirable progress of the school.

NOTE: The duration and attainment level of each learner in the school depends on the ability and endowment of individual pupil.
COMMUNICATION POLICY
i. General newsletters are issued regularly to all parents and other stakeholders that have connection with the school through their wards, documented emails and group media chat (Whatsapp).
ii. Communication book is also used.
iii. Schedule meetings with Parents/Teachers Association (PTA) of the school.
POLICY ON BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
We do not encourage celebration of birthdays in anyway.
POLICY ON LOST AND FOUND ITEMS
Lost and found items are under the care of the Head of Section (HOS). Parents are urged to see the HOS and check occasionally to recover their missing items. Parents are also implored to encourage their ward(s) to check the lost and found corner for their missing items.
HOMEWORK POLICY
The School has a coordinated frame work for assigning homework. Parents are advised not to do homework for their wards but can offer assistance where necessary. Parents are also expected to remind and provide enabling environment or condition for their child to do his/ her homework.
HEALTH OF PUPILS
– First Aid treatment will be administered by the School Nurse for minor injuries or illness.
– The School Nurse will administer oral and other medications with the consent of parents.
– A pupil with a fever or other indication of illness should not be sent to school.
– A child with an infectious ailment shall be sent home to safeguard the health of others.
OTHER POLICY
DAILY ASSEMBLY
– Pupils are expected to be in school by 7:30am.
– Pupils must be attentive while observing the morning adhkaar.
– Pupils will be inspected at the assembly.
RESUMPTION FROM VACATION
– Pupils are expected to report back to school on the resumption date.
– The school Public Relations Officer (PRO) will call to find out about any pupil who does not resume school after two days.
– Parents should report or inform the School Management few days before resumption if any child will not be able to resume school on the resumption day.
– A child who fails to resume after a week with no provided information on his/her absenteeism, after all efforts by the school PRO to reach the parent may be replaced with a new pupil.
WITHDRAWAL FROM THE SCHOOL
Parents who wish to withdraw their ward(s) from the school due to relocation and other reasons are free to do so. Parents are expected to write to inform the school and request for a Transfer Certificate. It is also expected that such parents must have cleared all outstanding fees.
COMPLAINTS
- Any complaint made by parents will be treated with utmost seriousness and prioritized to ensure proper investigation and a speedy resolution. We urge parents to exercise patience while the matter is treated and not take laws into their hands.
- Parents can relay complaints in writing or can meet or contact members of the Management.
- Parents are urged to reasonably accept an amicable resolution to issues and if necessary, should be willing to accept a compromise.
SCHOOL HOURS
School opens from Monday to Friday.
- All pupils arrive at school by 7:30 am
- Assembly begins by 7:40 am
- Closing time is 4:00pm for Monday to Thursday and 12 noon for Friday.
- All public holidays will be observed.
VISITATION TO THE SCHOOL
Al-Mustaqeem Pre-Basic School welcomes and entertains parents and visitors to the school to make enquiries, complaints, discuss pertinent issues regarding the academic and general welfare of their wards.
Parents and visitors will be required to answer some questions at the security post, after which they will be asked to fill the visitors register.
A decision regarding school access will be determined at the security post. Visitors or parents are not permitted to make impromptu visit to classrooms or to teachers in the school.
TRANSPORTATION
The school offers and operates an effective, convenient and reliable bus transport services for the pupils. Please visit the school Administrative Office for details.
SCHOOL MEAL SERVICES
Pupils have the option to buy meals in School (breakfast & lunch) or bring meals from home. Parents who want their children to be served breakfast and lunch or lunch only in the School pay for it before the services commence.
